We are pleased to be writing today to give a few updates and announcements about the Winter 2010 Etsy Baby Shower. This is a very special edition of the Etsy Baby Shower as it is the 3rd anniversary of this event! The very first Etsy Baby Shower was originated and hosted by FickleFaerie in January 2007. BuggaLove and DecorativeLabels are honored to be continuing this tradition. We began hosting the event in October 2009.

Hello! My name is Jessica and BuggaLove is my shop on Etsy. I have participated in the Etsy Baby Shower since March 2007 and over the past three years I have enjoyed being a donating shop, a receiving mom, and now a Host. Though we live on different sides of the country, Deniz and I have been in almost constant communication in order to put together an excellent event for Etsy members. I am continuously awed by the generosity of spirit I see from the shops who donate again and again to this event. I would like to thank each of you for participating. Without you, this would not be possible. And to the moms! We couldn’t do this without you either! You’re embarking on an amazing journey. I found parenting to be one of the most challenging and rewarding jobs of my life. Hi, I'm Deniz from DecorativeLabels! I joined Etsy a little over a year ago. After the e-mail asking for a volunteer(s) to take over hosting the baby shower I knew I wanted to help! Even though I had only participated in the previous shower (Spring 09) I felt a strong desire to see the tradition continue. I am so grateful to be hosting the Etsy Baby Shower with Jessica, she is amazing and so much fun to work with. It truly is amazing to see the generosity of these Etsy shops... Donating gifts to new/expecting moms they have never met... And many of the shops are participating have participated before! Being a mom of a 3 year old son, I find great joy in knowing that this baby shower helps new/expecting moms start off their journey in motherhood with a shower in gifts! I love the idea of new/expecting moms receiving packages in the mail with lovely, unique, handmade items for their little bundle of joy! Hats off to all the wonderful shops who are donating gifts, and congratulations to all the new/expecting moms!

You may have noticed that yesterday, our thread on the Etsy Forums was closed. This has never happened before but certainly that is not going to deter us from continuing the Winter 2010 Etsy Baby Shower. We’ve had a tremendous response from shops who wish to give gifts to the moms-to-be. And we have almost all of our mom slots filled. We still have spaces left for moms! If you know someone who might want to receive these wonderful gifts, please refer them to yesterday’s blog post Calling All Etsy Moms-to-Be! We will be taking moms until Friday, January 15th or until we run out of spaces, whichever comes first.
Yesterday, we also made a few small changes to the blog. First, we noted that the forum thread on Etsy was closed. That has been noted at the top of the blog and we will no longer be referring people to that thread. Instead, we will refer all of here to the blog for updates and announcements!
Second, we’ve added a nice long list of links to all the shops who are generously donating to the Winter 2010 Etsy Baby Shower. You can find that list in the right hand column of the blog. We hope you’ll browse through them! There is an amazing collection of products in these shops.
Third, if you’ve been watching the UPDATE! on the left hand side of the blog, you may have noticed that the number of gifts has continued to creep up! Even though we have exceeded our goal, we are still taking donating shops. It just means more gifts for our lucky moms! If you would like to be a donating shop, please refer to this blog post.
