How is The Shower Going?

Hi Everyone!

I do apologize for such a late post, shame on me!  I am sure that we are all crazy busy with the holiday season, but the matches were made about a month ago, emails sent.  If you are having any problems, please let me know ASAP so I can see what we can work out.  If you have emailed me in the past week, I will get back to you this weekend about donating for the next shower.  On that note...

As enjoyable of an experience as this has been, I would be lying if I said I could do this by myself again the next go around starting in January.  I HAVE to have another volunteer or two to help or take over.  I want the next shower to be even more successful, as it will benefit us all!!!  Please email me at etsybabyshower@gmail.com if you are interested.

Also, please, take pictures of the product you are sending your expectant or new mommy and send them to me, so that I can post your beautiful products to our Flickr album and the blog!

Update

Hola,
I am sitting here typing this with one hand (my baby is nursing right now), and wanted to apologize for the delays in emails and matching.  Every time I go to work on this project, you know...life...a kid wants something to eat...or drink...or a diaper change...you know...they have this radar that mommy is busy...
In any case!  My husband was home this weekend (we are military, so this can be a rarity), which is another reason why my deadline needed to be extended.  Again, please accept my apologies!  I am in the process of matching, which to explain the process right now I am tying up loose ends, such as who sells what, to make sure that nobody gets a mama that sells the same thing!  :-)  Like, if you make a mother's necklace, I don't want to pair you up with someone that makes...mother's necklaces.  Also had some last minute donating shops, which is great, so thank you thank you thank you!  In the meantime, check out some of our donating shops below.

Lot's of Love,
Jess

Meet Rebecca from Li'L Peeper Keepers!

I am wife to the most wonderful Preacher husband in the world and a SAH homeschooling mama of 5 - ages 8, 6, 4, 1, and a baby girl in Heaven.

Babywearing just makes sense . . . for you and your baby. They need security, you need your hands, and you both enjoy the time to cuddle. The security of a child held close is a reminder to me of the most precious facet of my life -- the eternal security that I have in my salvation through Jesus Christ.

We sell three different types of carriers - the ring sling, the pouch sling, and the baby wrap. I personally use all three types and appreciate them for different reasons! For simplicity, I like a pouch. For versatility, I’d choose a ring sling. For hiking, I’d probably reach for my wrap. To help newbies to babywearing, a Li'l Peeper Keepers DVD has been designed that covers basic use instructions for each carrier type and comes free with purchase of a carrier. We offer basic to deluxe, from simply beautiful linen slings and gauze wraps, to our Artist Series, where art meets sewing!

Every baby deserves to be held close – give the gift of babywearing today!

Thank you so much Rebecca for sharing your story!

Meet Tracy from RunnerBean!

I'm Tracy, and I've been interested in art and crafts since I was little, drawing horses before Saturday morning cartoons, crafting tiny books about Quacky, my pet duck (I grew up in rural Maine and yes, I really did have a pet duck!), and weaving baskets of rope and yarn. Now I live in Vermont, and am a part time freelance graphic designer, and full time stay at home mom to an amazing 2 year old little girl - in my free time, I love to create very intricate things.

I opened my shop, runnerbean, a few years ago, looking for a place to sell some of my creations - mostly paper creations, but I occasionally throw in some jewelry pieces that are made with silver wire work. I also make little 3d paper dolls sculpted with rolled paper. I love the challenge of working very small.

I participated in an Etsy Baby Shower about two years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter, and have wanted to participate as a donating shop since then. Now, I'm expecting again (and due in two weeks!) and am thrilled to be participating this time as both a donating shop and as an expectant mom.

Thank you so much Tracy!  Your work is amazing!

Meet Handmade Precious Gifts!

Hi there!  Donna is one of our Donating Shops for the Fall 2010 Shower, making beautiful crocheted gifts:

Hi my name is Donna and ever since I can remember I have always loved making crafts.   My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was 10 years old and I have been hooked ever since.  I also love the beach, the sand and the sounds of the ocean which I live close to.  I have been married for over 26 years, to my husband who is my best friend.

I attended the Summer Etsy Baby Shower as a spectator, just to learn more about it and thought it was a great idea.  I am excited to be participating as a donating shop this time around.

My shop Handmade Precious Gift was started after attending my niece’s baby shower.  I make crocheted dresses, sweaters, blankets, hats and booties.  Most of my items start out with a pattern, but I always end up changing something to make it unique and my own creation.  I just love making baby items, I think they make the perfect gift, my favorite is the little girl dresses.

Thank you,
Donna

Thank you Donna, your work is amazing!  Please, if you are a donating shop, email me your bio so you can be featured too!

Lot's of Love,
Jess

Mo & Ozzy

Hi everyone!  Before I start, I wanted to apologize for the earlier post, my youngest son Noah came down with a virus, so I did not get a chance to send out emails.  They will go out this week, and thank you to those who have emailed me thus far!

On another note, I would like to introduce Monica from Mo & Ozzy on Etsy, who is a wonderful and kind lady, and who I had the pleasure of donating a bracelet to in the last shower!  Thank you Monica for sharing your story!

I'm Monica McDonald and I'm a yarn addict. And a shoe addict. And a paper addict. And, well, you get the idea! I have a tendancy to be a hesitant person, but once I jump in the pool, I don't get out!
I was raised in beautiful, rainy, grey and green Western Washington, but somehow ended up in the mountains and desert in Utah! The things we do for love, huh? I've got a great, sweet, handsome hubby who is a great dad to our two boys. I participated in the Summer Etsy Baby Shower as both a donating shop and a recipient. It was a great experience and I'm so excited to donate again for fall!
My shop, Mo & Ozzy, started after my first son was born. I had been an elementary school teacher before he was born, and now, as a stay at home mom, I was lonely, isolated, and feeling down. I made a caterpillar hat for him and had tons of compliments. I'd made hats back in college, so I got down to work, designed and made a few more and started my shop! It was a great pick me up for me to feel productive and I found crochet super relaxing. I've made lots of amazing friends in the handmade community and continue to love every minute of it!
My shop specializes in hats, of course, and includes acrylic winter hats, cotton hats for warmer weather, and wool hats. I also create sweaters, booties, dresses, leg warners, bags, and hair accessories. I design each item and don't work from patterns. I prefer the challenge and freedon of figuring things out on my own and changing them as I go!

Thank you Monica!  If you are a donating shop, please send me a bio so that I can feature you in an upcoming blog!

Lots of Love,
Jess...a.k.a. The Etsy Baby Shower

Speaking of fun, if you are a donating shop this year, please send me a bio of you and your shop and some great pictures, so I can brag about you!

Etsy Baby Shower Update

Hello everyone!
As you may know, Deniz and I are passing the hosting torch for the upcoming Etsy Baby Shower. She and I are both expecting babies and would like to participate as "moms". As it would be a conflict of interest for us to both host and receive gifts, we must step down as hosts.  Thanks for your patience while the change over happens! It's been a lot of fun for us to host and we have enjoyed getting to know all of you.  Feel free to keep up with Deniz and I!

Meet Shannon from Gillyweeds

Hi!  My name is Shannon Gilbride, and I'm the wahm behind Gillyweeds.  I am a busy mom of six, who loves to crochet, knit, and scrapbook.  My love of these things led me to open my shop on Etsy.  I make hand knitted and crocheted children's clothing, diapering woolens, and other items.  I offer hand made greeting cards for all occasions, as well as the Gillyweeds Bottoms Up Crocheted soaker pattern.

This is my first time participating in the shower, and I'm very excited to be a part of it!  For the baby shower, I crocheted a wool soaker and hat, perfect for a newborn.  Wool makes a wonderful, naturally breathable and waterproof barrier, keeping baby cool in the summer, and warm in the winter.  It is naturally antiseptic, meaning it only needs washing when it is visibly soiled, saving on laundry!  Diaper covers and clothing made of wool keep baby dry, and can be used over cloth diapers, as well as disposable.

You can find Gillyweeds at http://www.etsy.com/shop/gillyweeds, http://www.hyenacart.com/gillyweeds, and on Facebook:  http://www.facebook.com/gillyweeds.   Check out the Etsy HC Street Team blog I am a member of as well, for some other wonderful wahms who have both Etsy and Hyenacart shops: http://etsyhcteam.blogspot.com/

I am taking a short summer break, but I will be using my Facebook page to announce my Fall specials.  Please connect with Gillyweeds today!

Meet Cindy from Embroidery By Cindy

My name is Cindy and I'm mom to a 3 year-old daughter and am expecting a baby in December.  A few years ago I got an embroidery machine so that I could make cute shirts and things for my daughter.  Soon I was getting requests to make things for her little friends.  Last year I expanded my business to Etsy and Facebook and became a member of EtsyKids.

Embroidery By Cindy offers personalized embroidered and appliqued items for babies and children, including birthday shirts, sibling sets, and
monogrammed bodysuits and baby bloomers.  I have many designs and fonts available, and love creating custom items.

This is the second Etsy Baby Shower that I have participated in.  This season I donated an applique whale  bodysuit.

Meet Cortney from Cort's Things

Hi! I am Cortney from Cort’s Things. I am a stay at home mom of 2 and I started making things for my 9 year old daughter because I have a hard time finding things I like for her. Soon people started asking me to make things for them and I eventually decided to open a shop. I plan on adding lots of new things this year and I am very excited to grow and expand my shop.

I donated a bib to 2 expecting moms for this baby shower. I love my bibs because they are soft and reversible which means you actually get 2 bibs in 1.

Meet Kristen from Banana Bottoms Cloth Diapers

Hi, I’m Kristen from Banana Bottoms Cloth Diapers.  I am a SAHM to 4 children and got started making cloth diapers when my oldest was born.  I love to use bamboo and organic cotton fabrics and find these to be a fantastic fabric choice for cloth diapering. I have started offering cloth training pants, which are a big hit and have recently added organic blankets and burp cloths and eco friendly cloth play scenes for the bigger kids.

This is my second time participating in the Etsy Baby Shower and this time around I donated a burp cloth made from Cloud9’s organic cotton ‘Meadow’ print. It is generously sized at approximately 10” by 15” and can even serve as a changing pad in a pinch.  It is backed with a thick and soft certified organic cotton flannel making this a perfect addition to an eco-friendly layette.

I am looking forward to expanding my organic layette selections, as well as expanding my natural and eco-friendly toys collection, in time for the holiday season.

Through the end of July, my organic blankets and burp cloths are on sale.

Meet Darlene from Darcey Lane Designs

Hi, I'm Darlene from  Darcey Lane Designs.  I’m a SAHW, who watches her grandsons (Joey 2 ½ and Tyler 1) during the week.  I have two granddaughters  Jordyn 4 and Madyson  1.  I have a great husband.  My passion is sewing for kids, but that doesn't stop me there,  I also do interior sewing like window treatments, pillows and table runners.
I have been sewing  and selling online for almost 4 years.  I started out making birthday  dress/ outfits for little girls and some boys.  I let the parents tell me what they want (color, theme etc.) and we go from there.  This has been my biggest seller.  I want to start selling more dresses and outfits.
This is the first time I have participated in the Etsy baby Shower.  I gave gifts to two babies, a boy and a girl.  I made a bath towel and with his name on it for the boy.  For the little girl, I made a pair of pink Sassy Ruffle Bloomers.  Every little girl needs some ruffles.
I will be participating  in a sale with GA Etsy team  in June but don’t know the date as yet.  But I will give a discount to anyone reading this blog, be sure to mention “baby shower” while checking out.

Meet Melissa from Sqrl & Bee Studio

My name is Melissa and I'm the Sqrl of Sqrl & Bee Studio! I'm a graphic designer (I love doing custom birth announcements!) and fiber artist. And I love doing both equally. I got to participate as both a giver and a receiver here with the Etsy Baby shower. Since I'm due first with my first baby in July - it's a girl!  And it's been a lot of fun. Here in the studio we make all kinds of things but I mostly work in fiber - wool mostly.Bright colors, simple forms, and adorable faces simply popped out of the wool and felting needles right into my hands! They are made from sustainably farmed wool and colored with non-toxic dyes — so they are friendly to both kids and the environment. I would have to say my best selling product would be my mobiles.
